Women of la Biblia

December 7, 2011

The women in the Bible have such powerful stories to tell. Obviously they were human and had faults just like you and me, but God placed their stories in the Book for that exact reason. He was able to use them and work through them not because they were good enough, but because HE was good enough. I’m always reminded that God doesn’t call the qualified, but He qualifies the called. Really look forward to diggin into Scripture and learning all I can about how to look more like Christ by being the woman God has called me to be. I definitely have weaknesses and potential weaknesses, ones that the devil would love to grab hold of and use to yank me down for good. But ya tu sabe yeaaaallready know — I’m comin out pure GOLD. LezGooo..I’m starting with Ruth.  3 refs:

Snowboarding Weekend

December 6, 2011

Definitely went snowboarding this weekend. I can cross it off my list! So happy I lived to tell the story ha. It was an awesome time with really cool people, namely Paulenna, Julian, Diem, Anton, Melissa and Brian. We were a big group; there were about 130 people total. It was fun making friends from the US, Canada, Korea, Ireland, Scotland, Cayman Islands, and England. Can’t wait to go on another trip. 🙂

Jeongseon, South Korea

Before hitting the slopes.....

One of the many times I couldn't get up. So I took advantage of the downtime lol.

Beautiful views.

Post-snowboarding. Yes, I'm alive, all limbs attached.

Gandolas were ultra convenient opposed to the ski lift! My life thanked me.

Last day at the resort.

Annyeong!

November 12, 2011

It’s official. I now have a blog. I always wish I could update all my friends and familia with more of life’s day-to-day details, namely my journey & ventures throughout South Korea, so this seems the perfect way to bring us together! I promise to work on the discipline of consistent blog entries, if you promise to bear with me. =)

I’ll start with a short post, since it’s pretty late here and I need some beauty sleep, ha. I’ve been teaching since September 5th, and it’s quite the experience! Being a teacher in South Korea is teaching me so much. These sweet children are a blessing to me more than I could ever be to them. If you are wondering what my weekly teaching/class schedule is like…

…I teach 1st-6th grade Monday through Friday. I teach a conversational class to the teachers at my school once a week. Starting this coming week, I begin teaching 2 kindy classes every Wednesday! They don’t even know words in Korean yet, so they will learn letters and words in English before they ever learn them in their native language! It’s funny to think about, but I think this will be really beneficial to them in the long run. I also teach 6th grade girls at a nearby orphanage twice a week. Sundays we do English learning activities and games, and Tuesdays I help/tutor with any questions they might have on their regular English homework (Korean= sookjeh). God laid this desire on my heart to spend time with the girls, and so I pray that over time we build relationship, and I can show them Jesus and just love them!

I go to a Korean class 2x a week at Pusan National Univ. here in Busan. Learning the language is pretty complicated, but it’s really rewarding (and sometimes life-saving!) to be able to speak to the locals, understand what is being said around me, give the taxi driver directions, etc. I meet a couple Korean friends once a week to chill and chat, which helps them practice their English (do you think this country loves English?), and in turn they help me a little with my Korean. Lastly, I try to get in a workout 3x a week! I’m on a Zumba kick, and there’s a salsa place near Haeundae Beach here in Busan that I want to check out.

Clearly, spending time in the Word morning and night is crucial for any and alll strength I have to accomplish anything purposeful. I’m so thankful that you guys are all praying for me when you think of me, and that you support me. I wouldn’t have ever been here if it weren’t for God laying this small, beautiful country on my heart, and then opening every door for me to get here. I only want what He wants for me, when He wants it for me. We can trust that He is good, and completely has our best interest in mind. Releasing my life to Jesus (like I was ever in control), and giving Him the pen to write the details of my story was the best thing I could have ever done. The weight has been lifted. Now it’s about that Kingdom business! 🙂  “chjal jah” for now (good night!). Love & bendiciones.

This is very quickly becoming a multilingual page. =)

xoxo.
